Introduction

Hostinger Review

History Of Hostinger

Hostinger is not the biggest hosting company, but it has a decent track record. They are a Lithuanian based company was started in 2005. Therefore, they have almost 15 years of experience in the industry. This is pretty impressive considering how many companies come and go over the years. It’s worth mentioning that the brand “Hostinger” is newer. The company has operated under it from 2011.

Today, Hostinger has close to 30 million users across all continents who trust their websites to this provider. What’s more, 10 000 people sign up with them every day, and Hostinger grows as you read this.

Hostinger has offices all over the world. This is important for support response times. They also have data centers on different continents, which is essential for speed and server response time.

As you can see, Hostinger was built on solid foundations, that allowed them to grow steadily. Today, they are one of the rising stars of the hosting industry, overtaking the market step by step.

What’s great is that they are still employee-owned. This gives them independence and freedom, and keeping them closer to the customers.

Hostinger Pricing

It has to be said this way—Hostinger is dirt cheap! You will hardly ever find a more affordable hosting solution, as their most basic plan starts at $1.45/mo. They even have sales as low as $0.80 per month at times! You may find cheaper deals out there, but they’re likely for fishy hosts.

Even Hostinger’s cloud WordPress and VPS plans start extremely low priced. They offer an abundance of features as well. This easily makes Hostinger one of the best valued hosting solutions out there.

Yes, plans rise in price after the initial contract expires. However, people who start new websites know the pains and hidden costs. Almost every single host we’ve reviewed has higher costs during the renewal period.

Saving as much as possible up front is incredibly valuable. Hosting, although very important, is a good place to save up. Your new site won’t get any traffic anytime soon anyway, and any kind of hosting will do just fine.

As for the owners of existing sites, switching to Hostinger makes sense. It’s almost free, at least when compared to your existing hosting contract. In the next section, you will learn that their plans have more to offer than low price.

Hosting Plans

However, few websites need this kind of power, and not many people can afford it. Dedicated servers are only for the biggest sites, and deepest pockets. They cost hundreds of dollars per month. This is obviously not the market Hostinger is targeting.

Hostinger doesn’t have dedicated servers, nor does it need them. Still, some users might find this as a disadvantage, and we had to mention it.

Hostinger does offer a lot of cheaper plans. They have shared hosting, but also cloud and VPS. Let’s dig a bit deeper.

Hostinger Shared Hosting

Shared hosting makes or breaks the experience of every budget hosting solution. You might be wondering what exactly shared means? Shared means that your site shares server resources with other websites. That means that sites affect each other. If one receives a huge traffic spike, or gets infected, it can spread to other sites, slowing down performance.

Still, most of the time nothing like this happens. This makes shared hosting cost-effective. And if you are creating a brand new site, shared hosting is definitely the best place to start.

Hostinger has awesome shared plans at terrific prices. What makes them unique is that they offer unlimited resources at affordable prices. Therefore, it allows your website to grow in size without getting bottlenecked at the server level. Plans also offer unlimited emails, bandwidth, sites, domains and subdomains, domain registration, and more.

Hostinger is not only cheap but very fast too. Even their shared plans use SSD, which is faster than regular, HDD storage. Tests show that Hostinger is fast, among the fastest budget providers out there.

As for the security, Hostinger does offer free SSL, but only for the Business plan. Single and Premium can still have SSL, but you will have to buy it separately. SSL encrypts your website traffic, making users feel safe. It also helps it rank higher, as it is a known SEO factor.

Hostinger also runs free weekly backups. Backups make sure your site stays safe even if you don’t monitor it non-stop. Daily backups are available, but not in the cheapest plans.

Hostinger Backups and Caching

Hostinger also has a basic, but free, website builder. Their builder allows you to create your site fast, without coding. As for WordPress, Hostinger has WP-optimized servers, for maximal performance and stability. Additionally, they offer one-click installations. Therefore, you will get everything up and running in minutes.

Hostinger Website Builder

As for the uptime, Hostinger guarantees 99.9%. This is excellent, as many hosting providers avoid guaranteeing anything. Many hosts only mention crazy high numbers without a guarantee.

Pricing

Hostinger has three shared hosting plans:

  • Single – $1.45/mo – 1x processing power, 1 site, 1 database, 10 GB SSD, 100 GB bandwidth, 1 email, no free SSL, no free domain, 2 subdomains and parked domains, 1 FTP, no SSH, no free daily backups.

  • Premium – $2.95/mo – 2x processing power, 20 GB SSD space, unlimited sites, databases, bandwidth, emails, subdomains, parked domains, free domain registration, a free SSH, no free SSL, and daily backups.

  • Business – $3.95.mo – 4x processing power, 30 GB SSD, everything unlimited + free SSL, SSH, daily backups, domain registration.

Hosting Shared Plans

Considering that the business plan is still cheaper than most other basic plans of competitive companies, it is by far the best valued. Make sure to check renewal prices before committing. The listed in this article are only for the initial sign up.

Hostinger Cloud Hosting

Cloud hosting is the newest kind of hosting. It is also the future of the industry as well. With the cloud hosting, your site is spread across the globe. It is on multiple locations, on several virtual servers at the same time.

This ensures maximal speeds, as users will always see the “site” closest to them. But, it also provides maximal safety. There is no risk of something unpredictable happening to the server your site is on, losing all data.

Cloud servers give you much more power and control than shared servers. They are a much better option for bigger sites. They also give you more scalability, and you can easily upgrade your plan at any time.

Cloud hosting is also fully managed. Managed means that backend is not your worry; your hosting company takes care of that. Your only job is to produce content, and run your business.

While this might sound to you like we confused VPS and cloud servers, it’s not the case. VPS is a more premium option. It is a virtualized dedicated server, but a part of an actual dedicated server. This means there are no redundancies (only backups). Cloud, on the other hand, is all about redundancies and having the same data spread across multiple locations.

Hostinger cloud hosting shares some features with their other plans. They have 99.9% guaranteed uptime, instant setups, automated backups (but cloud has daily), and their innovative control panel. Cloud hosting also has integrated caching for maximal speeds. It even has dedicated IP and resources.

There are three Hostinger cloud hosting plans. Please see the plans and affordable features below:

Hostinger VPS

Virtual Private Servers offer maximal flexibility, but also incredible dedicated server-like performance.

With them, you do share a dedicated server with other sites. However, a key different is that you get guaranteed resources for your site. So, if another site experiences a traffic spike, it won’t steal away your performance.

VPS are also scalable, which means that you can start small, and add more resources later as your site grows.

Hostinger VPS plans all give an incredible amount of control. You can customize anything, from the operating system to the server stats. The interface is simple, and even less tech-savvy users can navigate it without any issues.

All Hostinger VPS plans have dedicated IP addresses. They use IPv4 & IPv6 protocols, have the best hardware, and are all on SSD, ensuring maximal speeds.

They all also have cloud backups. Therefore, this ensures nothing ever goes wrong, and if it does, you are one click away from restoring. Lastly, VPS customers have priority support. They can reach the Hostinger team anytime you need help.

Hostinger Review: WordPress Plans

Unfortunately, Hostinger doesn’t have real, managed WordPress hosting solutions. They do have a separate WordPress hosting page. However, those are ordinary, shared plans, which you can see from their prices. They are the exact same.

Managed WordPress hosting is something different, as it gives you more security. Your host manages your backend. They upgrade WordPress and plugins, keeping everything synced and up to date.

Yes, shared plans have one-click WordPress installs. But we would like to see separate, managed WordPress hosting. We hope that Hostinger will think about adding that option (after reading this article, of course!).

Hostinger Support

Hostinger has a decent support team that you can reach around the clock. They can be reach through email, tickets or chat. Unfortunately, there’s no phone support, but their chat team is super fast. Agents know their business, and you can expect them to help you immediately.

What separates them from other companies is that they offer support in several languages. This is a huge plus!

What’s also great is that Hostinger has a very extensive knowledge base. Their knowledge base is filled with useful tips and tutorials. We recommend you check it before submitting tickets, as it will save you a lot of time.

Hostinger Knowledge Base

On top of having the great knowledge base Hostinger also has tutorials. These tutorials are used to help people get started quickly and answer frequently asked questions.

Pros of Using Hostinger

    1. Incredibly affordable – getting hosting at $1.45 per month is just ridiculous, and an offer you can’t pass up. Hostinger also has ultra-affordable cloud and VPS plans. You really get a lot of bang for your buck with this host.

    2. Excellent speed – although low prices are the key selling point, Hostinger has excellent speeds too. They’re not the best, but they’re well above average. That’s primarily because they use SSD on all plans, but also cloud servers, and the best hardware. Plus, they do their own caching.

    3. 99.9% uptime guaranteed – low prices and a fast site would be worthless if it’s continuously down. Hostinger gives you peace of mind, knowing that a strong guarantee covers your uptime.

    4. Fast-working support – Hostinger has an excellent staff. You can expect your questions to get answers fairly quickly. Plus, there’s also a terrific knowledge base to look for answers.

    5. Independent, and steadily growing – Hostinger grows rapidly, with 10k signups every day. This host is steadily improving its services, and the growing number of happy customers is the best proof that they are doing a great job.

    6. Numerous payment options – This is something I did not mention earlier. Hostinger accepts a wide variety of payment options including Bitcoin. You can see the list of payment options below.

Hostinger Payment Options

Cons of Hostinger

    1. There are no dedicated plans – this is a budget-friendly provider. It makes sense that there are no massive, dedicated hosting plans.

    2. No managed WordPress hosting – only shared plans, but with 1-click installs, so not a big deal.

    3. There is no phone support – still, their live-chat support team is fast. Chat is the best form of support anyways, as you can easily copy-paste and send screenshots.

30 Day Money Back Guarantee

Hostinger has a 30-day guarantee, which is about standard in the hosting industry. Still, this is an excellent opportunity to try this affordable host yourself. You won’t be disappointed.

I always recommend taking advantage of this policy for every hosting provider out there. You can always avoid the long term hassle by finding a great host up front.

Hostinger Review: Final Thoughts

I hope you’ve found this Hostinger review to be helpful. I spent quite a bit of time and money trying Hostinger out for myself before tackling this.

Personally, I believe that Hostinger is one of, if not the best option for new users on a budget. The only similar hosts that I’d recommend are SiteGround and HostPapa. However, both of them cost more than Hostinger though.

Overall I rank Hostinger as a 9 out of 10.

Have you tried Hostinger before? If so I’d like to hear your thoughts on my Hostinger review. Is my review spot on? Did I miss the mark completely? Feel free to let me know below in your own mini Hostinger review.

  1. This is by far the best host server I’ve used for my clients. The sites hardly experience downtime and the shared hosting just made it all profitable for us developers. If I had known it has existed for this long, I sure would have made it my number one host since I started out as a web developer/designer. So far, I haven’t noticed any downside but I don’t think that will be a big deal since they have a very good service. I’ll give them a 5-star rating anytime.

  2. Yeah, Hostinger is not only cheap but very fast too. I thought for a cheap server like it, I’ll get poor service and still struggle with slow speed. But I was totally wrong when I noticed they use SSD which is way faster than any regular. Hostinger is truly among the fastest budget providers and they take expensive pricing off the list of newbies making them very popular among people just starting out.
